The Belarusian film award Red Heather will take place in Berlin

The awards ceremony of the Belarusian Film Critics Award Red Heather will take place on February 17 within the European Film Market of the Berlin International Film Festival. The winners in 13 nominations, as well as recipients of the Special Mention award, will be revealed at the event.

 

The best Belarusian films of 2021 and 2022 will be named at the award ceremony of the Red Heather film award, which will take place within the European Film Market of the Berlin International Film Festival. The event is scheduled for 19:00 on February 17 at the Gropius Bau Cinema, which is located in the main building of the Martin Gropius Bau cinema market.

 

"It is an honor that during the humanitarian crisis in the country, Belarusian cinema is not lost, but, on the contrary, finds its platform at established international festivals, which is where it truly belongs," say the co-founders of the Red Heather film award, Irena Katsialovich and Taras Tarnalitski. "We hope that the ceremony will become an additional inspiration and motivation for Belarusian filmmakers to continue their important work."

 

The Red Heather awards will be presented in the categories of Best Fiction Feature Film, Best Fiction Short Film, Best Documentary Feature Film, Best Documentary Short Film, Best Animated Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Script, Best Production Design, Best Sound Design, Discovery of the Year.

 

The winners were determined by the jury of 16 film critics, film journalists and film researchers. The long list of Red heather includes 70 documentaries, feature films and animations.

 

The Belarusian Film Critics Award is organized with the support of The German Marshall Fund and the Goethe-Institut in Exile and the Trzy Trąby Fund.
